Superfoods are packed with health benefits that help fight cancer and heart diseases while nourishing your body with antioxidants, fiber, and phytochemicals.
In Philippines, we have our own version of local superfoods that are bountiful in supply and easy to find. Some of these are malunggay, guava or bayabas, calamansi, sitaw, pomelo or suha among others.
In observance of Lenten season, as some would abstain from meat, here are some superfood recipe ideas for a hearty and healthy meal.
Tofu is a perfect meat substitute. Cooked with SARSAYA® Oyster Sauce, and you can serve a rich savory tasting dish like this Orange Tofu recipe!
Coat tofu cubes with cornstarch, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Doing this on a flat plate will make sure our tofu is coated evenly.
Then on a saucepan, heat cooking oil and sauté garlic. Add orange juice and our SARSAYA® OYSTER SAUCE then whisk until well incorporated. Add cornstarch and water mixture to thicken sauce and set aside.
Now we make our tofu crispy! On a deep pan, heat oil and deep fry coated tofu cubes until crunchy.
Finally, we mix cooked tofu onto the orange saucepan. Garnish with sesame seeds and spring onions. Then transfer this perfect meat alternative dish onto a serving plate and enjoy!
