As the enhanced community quarantine continues, so as our fight against the disease that claimed lives of people not only in the Philippines, but also around the world. With this crisis, there is one thing that crosses borders that can help us win in many ways – water. Water is known as the universal solvent and it comes in many forms and uses that are known to be effective to help your body fight infection and the spread of this disease. Handwashing, using soap and water, play a critical role in combating the transmission of COVID-19. Remember to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds as frequent as possible.

Drinking enough clean water is also essential in helping you to flush out germs and other toxins inside the body through urination, perspiration, etc. It helps as well in maintaining the body’s water level that aids not only the body’s functions, but also in strengthening the body’s defenses against diseases. Water carries oxygen that goes all throughout the body that helps your body systems in maintaining their functions, especially your immune system. Since the immune system are made out of cells and antibodies, water helps in maintaining its healthy cells by supplying fluid and oxygen to be utilized to fight infections.

It is recommended to take 8-10 glasses of plain water daily on top of other beverages that you drink. But you can also get hydration from the food that you eat.
