AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 Tbsps. (30ml) Cooking Oil
  • 10 pcs. (320g) Hotdog, sliced diagonally
  • 1/4 cup (25g) Red onion, minced
  • 3 tbsp. (20g) Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 kg (500g) Beef, ground
  • 1 pack (1000g) Tomato Sauce
  • 1 pack (320g) Banana Ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp. (20g) Condensed milk
  • 1 pack (900g) Spaghetti Pasta
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) Pasta water
  • 1 pack (11g) AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning
  • 1/2 cup (120g) Cheese, grated

Procedure

  1. SAUTE. Heat oil in a large saucepan. Saute hotdog slices for about 3 minutes, then set aside. Sauté onions and garlic for 1-2 minutes and add ground beef. Cook for 3-5 minutes draining excess fat if needed.
  2. SIMMER. Stir in tomato sauce, banana ketchup, and condensed milk. Bring to a boil and simmer covered for 5 minutes.
  3. BOIL. While simmering the sauce, cook the spaghetti in a large pot according to package directions. Drain the pasta and set aside, make sure to save some of the starchy pasta water.
  4. SEASON. Once simmered, add hotdog slices back and pasta water. Season with AJI-NO-MOTO® to taste and stir. Simmer again for 3 minutes.
  5. SERVE. Transfer and assemble on a plate with pasta, sauce, and grated cheese on top.

Cooking Tips

Always salt your pasta water before boiling; it enhances flavor and helps the pasta absorb it as it cooks. Aim for about 1-2 tablespoons of salt per gallon of water!
