Every third Sunday of January is the celebration of the mother of all festivals in the Philippine – the Sinulog Festival in the Queen City of the South – Cebu! Being one of the most lavish festivals, the celebration dishes are equally festive and gastronomically fun.
But if you’re team-bahay who cannot part-take in actual festival, there’s one food that can make you feel a little bit closer to it, the all-time favorite Cebu Lechon! We bring you a little twist to it.
Cebu’s Lechon is known for its crispy “balat” which is achieved through their roasting method. It’s one dish that will never be missed out during Sinulog Festival. Since most of the Filipinos love lumpiang shanghai, let’s tweak Lechon Cebu into a Lumpiang Lechon Cebu with AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning!!
1st step is to mix all the ingredients for our Lechon Lumpia including our AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning to give more taste out of our lumpiang lechon.
2nd step, we wrap our mixture. Scoop around 45g or 3 tbsp of mixture and place it in the middle of the lumpia wrapper and create a small log shape, close the sides first then roll.
3rd step, fry!! Heat cooking oil on a deep pan, and fry until golden brown then set aside.
Last step is to serve. Transfer cooked lumpiang lechon into a plate then serve with lumpia sauce!
Lumpia Sauce:
Step 1, we mix. In a sauce bowl, mix brown sugar, soy sauce, and vinegar together.
Step 2 and last step is to add chilis, red onions, and garlic into the sauce bowl. Serve and enjoy!
