Food like love is meant to be shared and enjoyed. Eating together is always a welcome pause from the daily grind and a chance to catch up with your significant other. Serving breakfast in bed could just be the perfect way to start your Valentine’s Day with the love of your life. COOKMUNITY® cooked up a special breakfast menu to help you plan for a special breakfast date in bed.
The preparations could be tricky since you need to get up earlier than your partner to set-up the breakfast surprise. For this reason, it is recommended to go with something that you can make the night before and dishes you can easily cook and serve before your partner wakes up. These dishes are also meant to be shared and a lot less messy to consume. Also, don’t worry about breaking your budget as these recipes use affordable and accessible ingredients. All you need is some labor of love to complete this special treat that both you and your partner will surely enjoy.
Making overnight oats is simple and can be presented in stylish jars to set the romantic mood of your breakfast tray. All you need to do is to combine 1 cup of whole rolled oats, 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt, 1 cup of milk, 1 tsp. vanilla, 2 Tbsps. of honey, 1 pack of Prottie® (Chocolate), and ¼ tsp. of salt in a bowl. This recipe can fill four (4) jars. Cover the lid of filled jars and let them sit overnight in the refrigerator. Before serving the overnight oats, top it with fresh slices of strawberries. The combination of fresh strawberries and the chocolate flavor of Prottie® Soymilk Drink Mix will surely excite the palate.
For a romantic French twist, the next dish will be Vegetable French Toast. This is a savory treat to even out the sweet notes from the Overnight Oats. The procedure in making this dish is simple, first make the batter by placing all-purpose flour, water, chili powder, salt, onions, tomatoes, carrots, cilantro, and ginger. Mix the ingredients well and season with AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning to enhance the natural delicious taste of the ingredients.
Dip and coat each slice of bread into the batter then fry both sides in the heated oil until golden brown and crispy at the edges. Lastly, drain oil and serve in a plate.
Tex-Mex is short for Texan and Mexican and describes an American regional cuisine. Examples of Tex-Mex food are nachos, burritos, fajitas and any dish that uses meat usually beef, black beans, vegetables, wheat flour, and/or cheese.
The third and last recipe is a local version of a Tex-Mex Breakfast Bowl. This colorful dish will surely liven up your breakfast tray. To make this dish, simply combine black beans, tomatoes, onion, garlic, lime juice, jalapeno, avocado, corn, cilantro, and bacon. Season the dish with AJI-GINISA® Flavor Seasoning Mix to add the delicious “gisa” taste and aroma. Then top the breakfast bowl with tortilla and cheese.
